For big-city attractions, the short trip to downtown Atlanta is your best bet. To get a taste of the slower Southern life, however, Marietta is a perfect destination. From lovely Marietta Square to the small Marietta Museum of History, the town has many sights and museums that look back to a quieter time. The Theatre in the Square is a lovely little community theater that keeps locals interested and active in the arts. Two major attractions belay Marietta's small-town feel, Six Flags White Water and American Adventures, but both are a blast and great places to enjoy outdoor amusements for a day.
